Advokátska kancelária Branislava Máčaja, s. r. o. (AKBM) provides its clients with comprehensive legal services. We provide legal services across Slovakia and canduction arrange for legal services to be provided in select countries abroad when needed via cooperating law firms. The involvement of a tax adviser and accountant are a matter of course when resolving the legal issues facing our clients. Our clients include exclusively domestic business entities and business entities with foreign ownership participation and foreign business entities.

However, we are happy to provide assistance to individuals and non-business entities facing any legal issue that we will be happy to resolve. Our clients have been or are major companies from the ICT sector, the pharmaceutical industry, consulting, human resources, trade and services. In particular, we would like to emphasise our expertise in the information and communications technology sector, where, among other things, we deal intensively with regulatory and competition issues, in the pharmaceutical industry, in the area of personal data protection, as well as in the area of consumer protection. We also represent our clients in proceedings before the courts, as well as state and local government authorities. History of the firm

History

AKBM, or more specifically its predecessor was established by Mgr. Branislav Máčaj in 2003.

Branislav is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava, and he also studied political science and international relations at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. Branislav has valuable experience based on a combination of legal and managerial practice. As a lawyer, he held various positions at EuroTel Bratislava, later at the consulting company KPMG and from 1998 to 2003 at Orange Slovensko. He has been an attorney at law since 2003. He was the managing director of the telecommunications company eTel Slovensko, a member of the board of directors of the Association of Telecommunication Operators and the chairman of the Association for Number Portability.

He served as chairperson of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic from 2006 to 2008. During this period he was also the representative of the Slovak Republic in the European Regulators Group (ERG) – an advisory body of the European Commission in the field of electronic communications and also a representative of the Independent Regulators Group (IRG), the association of European national regulatory authorities. He was also a member of the Council of the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic for the mass media from 2006 to 2008. He then served as the Director General of the National Agency for Network and Electronic Services from 2010 to 2012.
